Do not miss this chance to have your say as all suggestions will be fed back to Konami. So, head on over to the forum and let us know who you would like to receive a makeover.

PES 2014 EDIT MODE DETAILS

Im sure many people like me have been eager to know what edit mode entails this year? Well allow me to divulge a few details. This years edit mode sees a few major changes one of which is the ability to add images to more than just the front of shirts. We now have the ability to add images to shirt fronts, sleeves, shorts and socks opening up a plethora of options and in some ways giving us an indirect extra kit layer. Speaking of which there are now 5 kit layers for shirts instead of the 4 available in PES 2013, 4 for shorts and 3 for socks. This is great news as i found many kits i made were just one extra layer away from being perfect and now we have that extra layer. In accordance to the UEFA ruling on sock tape matching  the colour of the socks well sock tape colour now matches the sock colour an excellent touch IMO. PES 2014 will also début a brand new face build feature allowing for the creation of likenesses never seen in edit mode before. The ability to refine pretty much every aspect of a players face in very advanced detail but at the same time remaining very user friendly. Facial hair actually looks like its sprouting from the face. Improved hair pre sets add to the effect so once perfected you will be creating life like appearances with ease. This in turn means no more need for face scans...DO NOT PANIC! With the new face builder you will not need face scans its that detailed. No need to settle for a scan when you can use methods used by konami to build players faces? Whilst i have your attention let me run down what else has been confirmed. Unlicensed teams now have the choice of up to 4 outfield kits ( only 1 gk ) You now have the ability to choose the number of teams in an 'unlicensed' league 20,18,16 and 14 meaning smaller leagues can be created. Lastly as you may already know there are now 4 unlicensed leagues a European league, an Asian league, a south american league and a division 2 league. Well that's it for now pretty amazing right. Of course we want to know your thoughts so hit us up on the forums let us know what you think.

PES 2014 LEAKED DEMO IMPRESSIONS. (PART 1)

Yesterday (28th August) between the hours of 11 am and 12 pm reports started flooding in that a  PES 2014 demo had hit the Italian Play Station store. I along with many others awaited confirmation on this as i at the time had just started the long (and boring) journey home from work. Word and screenshots of people downloading the apparent demo began filtering through twitter, it was true Italian
users weren't seeing mirages a demo had just sprung up on the PlayStation store without warning. Not long after twitter goers began reporting that the demo was also available in the UK psn store. I at this point began to panic as i along with a few others believed this to be some sort of mistake as there was no way konami would put out a demo without letting us know first and feared it would be taken down sooner rather than later. NOOOOO! I had to get home. I began mentally urging the bus driver to go faster, go faster, GO FASTER! As you probably imagine this worked about as well as a rival companies on-line servers! Nevertheless i arrived home not to long after, ran straight in ignoring the fact i was literally busting to go toilet, switched on my PS3 and low and behold there it was. I download it asap as i had a feeling it wouldn't be there much longer and surely enough as my download was 75% complete news came in that the demo had been taken down on all psn stores, lucky me huh?

Any ways i wasted no time in diving straight into the action. If you remember this inst my first time playing  PES 2014 (community day) so i half knew what to expect but the other half of me was just eager to play it once again and play it as many times as i want. I was also interested to see which build it was, community day? gamescom? nah, its an early build said to be around 70% which makes me salivate at the thought of what the official demo (September 11 th) will be like.......no not literally!

Once the game loads up and you reach the title menu you notice the crisp crystal like edges accompanied by one of any of the Bayern Munich squad players as they interchange every time you access the menu, notice Monsieur Ribery to the left. There are two modes available exhibition match and training mode. Im gonna focus on exhibition for now and wait for the proper demo then ill give my views on training mode. I guess some can say 'why not wait until the actual demo hits then give impressions?' well i want to show you the difference, the progress that was made between builds and also because i just want to. So for my first game i decided to play as Bayern being the bundesliga lover that i am and chose Santos as my opponents.

SO into the game and as you may have seen from earlier images released by konami you start in the tunnel area of Bayerns Allianz arena a sight to behold in its self. The attention to detail is simply amazing and gives a real authentic feel to the teams about to walk out onto the field. The first thing that grabs your attention when the players do walk out is the stadium atmosphere, WOW! The pixel perfect fans, the sunlight gleaming through gaps in the Allianz roof onto to the damn near life like grass....just WOW!  The stadium announcer along with the thousands of home fans singing their teams chants just add to the realism. As the teams kick off and you pull off the first pass of your PES 2014 experience you will feel a difference, i guarantee it. There is nothing robotic in passing the ball at all even with full passing assistance on. The movement of the ball feels both smooth and natural that teamed with the players animation it just looks well...so real. Whilst on the subject of passing let me touch on through balls etc. I remember a few people complaining that in PES 2013 splitting defences with through balls was way to easy. Well not only do you have to get them damn near inch perfect but the defence seems a lot smarter this year than that of its predecessor, you rarely get that kind of a chance to simply split the defence and if you did if a defender is good enough they will catch you trust me it frustrated the crap out of me. Defender AI seems overly improved and a lot less predictable also you will find scoring cut back tap ins a lot more difficult than you think. yes this may be down to the demo's difficulty level which was pinned on superstar but hey who wants an easy game? there's nothing like scrapping for a win right?

Speaking of improvement one of the greatest on field improvements has to be the goal keepers in most aspects. I say most because being an early build yes the goal keeper did make a few flappy attempts to save what seemed like easy shots at goal. I scored an outside of the boot shot with Balotelli which the keeper pushed into the goal but these are things i guarantee konami have worked on between early build and now and expect to see great improvement in this area come the real demo. So any ways that aside the keeper animations themselves are just beautiful. The way a keeper punches, catches , throws and kicks the ball now looks fluid and natural. Now a quick word on the refs. They seem a lot stricter now and rarely ever little a silly tackle go unpunished. I've had 4 sending off's since playing and lord knows how many yellows. I've also conceded 2 penalties both of which were scored, damn it.

Before i rap up part 1 i want to stress as i said before this demo was put out by mistake and was of an earlier build and in no way represents the final product. Yes it has very very impressive elements but there were a few faults which as i said i know will have been worked on and that of which i will be talking about come september the 11th. As you can tell ive kept this brief, well thats because i want to save steam for the actual demo where i will go into things alot deeper so for now enjoy reading and ill see you all on the 11th. dont forget to hit the forums to discuss anything in this article.

MY HOPES FOR PES 2014

For many years with the impending release of an upcoming PES title i along with many others think of what may be in store for us PES lovers. For some its what new game modes will be added and for others they may concentrate more on how online modes will be improved. For me and this shouldn't come as a surprise at all its all about edit mode and how it will be improved if at all. Over the last few years PES edit modes have only been tweaked slightly with no major changes. Frustrating maybe but i have always kept the faith knowing that a complete overhaul would be due somewhere down the line. So you probably can imagine how my imagination started running wild when news of a new graphics engine for PES 2014 broke, i mean what does this mean will it allow more to be done within the game other than it looking prettier than ever? i hope so and that brings me to my point. what do i hope to see added or improved within the PES 2014 edit mode?

Well i suppose i should start with the obvious. For a long time now many a option file has been blighted on its journey to perfection by the fact that there has never been enough emblem slots for each team. Each year i have hope and wished this would change only to have my hopes dashed. One emblem per unlicensed team has always rated high on my PES wishlist and maybe just maybe this could be the year. OK so what next? well this one is kind of along the same lines. i have made many a kit over the years and have often said to myself 'if only i had one more layer' the kit would be pretty much spot on. This has always been frustrating to say the least, some suggested removing kit layers and have designs, patterns etc save on a HDD capacity basis. Good idea but that would mean a user would need a large or in my case a very large HDD capacity to fit most files on their system. Another suggested method was to remove the limit to how many layers you have to make a kit in game meaning if it took 10 layers to make one kit where as another only needed 6 this wouldn't be an issue. Lets just hope the guys over at konami see this as a major part of edit mode and have look, fingers crossed.

Remember back on the PES of old  when we were able add text to the back of shirts, logos on shorts etc? I hope to see these features make a return along with a few welcomed additions. How about the ability to add logos to socks or the area on the shirts that we are able to edit be increased meaning maybe adding images to sleeves? I would also like to see shirt collar designs expanded further? by this i mean like a few kits this season but mainly on kits using puma templates, Newcastle and Dortmund home shirts for example they have raised collars this i would like to see added to the shirt collar data base.

Shirt number outlines needs to come back there is no explanation needed it just needs to come back.

Lets move onto the stadium editor and first and foremost Konami may we please have the front ad boards back? i understand the need for advertising space but during PES 2013 all they had on there was zavvi. The stadium stands need to be closer to the pitch for a better sense of realism. What would be cool is an option to choose how images added to pitch side fences are displayed, moving or static to give the effect of electronic adboards which are used by most teams today. i would also like to see the introduction of see through stadium roofs / ceilings.

Boot creator NEEDS TO COME BACK! This in my opinion is a priceless feature and i would welcome its return.

I would like to see more second divisions for more leagues, ideally one division 2 per league but im not holding my breath for this if im honest maybe somewhere in the future perhaps.....maybe.

Please can we have competition logos on sleeves as well as league logos this would add a great touch to cup competitions.

Here's a personal choice for me, screenshot capability!!

So there you have it guys my hopes for PES 2014 edit mode. Do you agree disagree have i left something out? let me know what you think.

GTM.

PES 2014 TRANSFER UPDATE / DLC RELEASE DATE AND DETAILS REVEALED.

The latest PES 2014 Data pack which will bring all transfers up to date ( in regards to the January transfer window ) will be released on the 27th of february ( next week thursday ) Along with bringing transfers up to speed also included will be some new boots ( pictured ) 43 updated kits on top of 13 enirely new ones which will include retro kits for Man United, AC Milan and AS Roma.

ON a separate note but all still equally important is the effect the transfer DLC will have on not just our but all option files. Well as history has proven transfer updates are far from option file friendly and its higly likely this one will be no different. I along with the PES World team will put our heads together to see which will be the quickest and least painstaking solution.

thanks GTM.

PES 2014 COMMUNITY DAY.....MY DAY, MY THOUGHTS.

This past friday i along with a few other PES community members and members of the media attended a community play test day at Konami's  windsor hq. The day started early for me as it was impossible to sleep in on a day like this. Eventually the time came for me to make my way a 10th of the journey by car the rest of the way by train. After about an hour and a half i arrived in beautiful Windsor and started the last and shortest portion of the journey by foot. After a ten minute stroll i arrived at konami hq, a surprisingly misleading building smaller than i expected.  after signing in at reception i was taken round to the play test area where i was greeted by the familiar faces of Graham Day, Adam Bhatti and a face id wanted to meet in person for a long time Mr Jon Murphy.

Along with the familiar faces i finally met some of the great guys from the community for the first time. I was also very pleased to see the Konami guys had laid on a pretty good sandwich, cake and soft drinks spread because i was absolutely starving. After around ten to fifteen minutes more faces started to stroll in, that of Only pro evo (mike) and Nicholas Di Maria who i was finally meeting in person and who was celebrating his birthday. Right, it was time to get down to business as we all headed into what seemed like a conference room where we were all greeted by Jon Murphy and marketing producer Manorito Hosoda who briefed us on the day ahead as well as talking us through the new features of pes 2014.

So now it was time to finally sample the game, admittedly i was very anxious and extremely expectant. i wanted a whole new improved experience but was hoping all the old essence of PES hadn't gone. I sat down with mike and we got started. there were two teams available European champions Bayern Munich and Brazilian team Santos fc, i chose Bayern mike was Santos. One of the first think you notice once you start a game is the atmosphere is amazing from when you see the teams lined up in the tunnel to when they walk out onto the pitch. Something i picked up on was that teams lining up in tunnels like the previews we saw of Bayern in the allianz arena arent just limited to licensed stadia as it looked equally as authentic inside the konami stadium. Its very evident that Konami have paid alot of attention to the atmosphere as you see the obvious difference between a German crowd and a south american crowd who look amazing by the way fans are far far less pixelated. As the kick off whistle went you feel the instant difference when doing something as simple as passing the ball. The pace of the game has been slowed to a more realistic pace also. but what stood out for me and mike was the physical elements, challenges and tussles are very life like, going for headers against an opponent just looks and feels so spot on. Its amazing the way the game feels now and equally as importnat to me it just looks WOW! I just cant wait for you all to get your hands on it so you can see for yourselves that im not exaggerating, in fact you would be excused for mistaking it for next gen it looks that good. There were many other points to pick up on but im gonna point you all in the direction of only pro evolutions who will have a much more detail write up on the day as a whole aswell as our playing experience. I guess your all wondering with me being an editor was i able to obtain any editing news? well my good pal Daymos was the one to ask the questions and he was told yes there will be the ability to add an emblem to all unlicensed teams, kit editing will be based on the method konami use to create kits ( think pc editing ) also we were told there will possibly be two fake leagues this year aswell as the usual d2 league.

All in all i had a great day, and met some great people. It was an honor and privilege to be present that day and hope to do it again. Its days like friday that makes all the work  i have done worth it. I love being part of the community and taking part in such events. Thanks all for taking the time to read this, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Glen.
