Star Wars: The Force Awakens is odds-on to beat Avatar's worldwide gross

Popularity of the film also gives Star Wars Battlefront a good shot at being the video game No.1 this Xmas, says William Hill.

Avatar is 8/13 to retain its record.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens is one of the most anticipated movies of all time and tickets have already sold out for many early showings suggesting that it could race towards the Avatar total," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

The popularity of the film could also give Star Wars Battlefront a shot at being the video game No.1 this Christmas, with its odds coming in from 7/1 to 5/2.
